Welcome to DaGrazia Italian Spinone.

Dedicated to preserving this unique versatile sporting breed.  We strive to maintain the health and temperment of this functional hunting companion.

The Italian Spinone is an ancient breed with rather uncertain heritage but has roots from gun dogs of long ago.  This is a large and rugged dog with "human like" eyes.  The hunting style is unique and methodical with the desire to work for their gunner.  The Spinone has the ability to use air scent, ground scent, and track its game.

This website is dedicated to my Grandmother Grace Hanna who encouraged the love of dogs in my father who in turn encouraged it in me. My father taught me to hunt and I taught him about the Spinone.

This website will not give you all the information on the breed or the standard.  There is information on www.spinoneclubofamerica.com to help with breed information.
The Spinone is not for everyone's home or bed but it works for our family.   I started with the breed in 1994 with my first spinone Bello Terra's Isabella bred by Michelle Henss and Guido Malandrucollo.   Isabella was all I could have hoped for in a companion and more.   The time I had with Isabella gave me great joy in many areas.  Isabella gave me the chance to explore animal therapy for 11 years; we were registered with TDI and Delta Society as a pet partner team.  We hunted in North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Michigan together.   My father's first spinone was a year old female from Ron Stanerson.  Mirkwood's Cassie aka Cricket joined us in 1995.  Cricket was all my father could have asked for in a hunting companion.  The female with the most beautiful expression and disposition.  Plus she smiled.
My father and I both acquired our second Spinone  from James Channon.  Risky Business Orianna joined me and Risky Business NIta joined my father.   These two dogs got my father and I hooked on NAVHDA testing.  What a wonderful time we had working and training the two dogs together to levels we never imagined.   What an adventure they took us on.
Three of these four dogs were the start for us in breeding.  We have a litter on occassion and encourage folks to try these dogs in the field regardless if they are hunters or not.   You never know what these dogs will get you hooked on!
